Output

Before I run off to watch fireworks, here is today's output.  These slippers, made to check my standard gauge numbers, are child sizes in the standard gauge slipper, all made with dribs and drabs of leftover sock yarn.

No way is this a stash buster.  My sock yarn leftover stash is still leering at me.  I'm not going to use it up making slippers that only take an ounce or two!

The pink/purple ones match fairly well along their stripes.  The green ones, not at all.  I think I'll do another green one and see if I can get closer!  The turquoise ones in the center are some leftover Kool-aid dyed pieces, and I'm certain there's more than one dye lot.

  1. Slippers are looking great Diana. I wonder if you start at the same place on the multicolored yarn if that would make a difference on getting them more identical. You know kids today would probably prefer they be different as that seems to be the way they wear their socks! Some I know deliberately do not wear matching socks so that may work with slippers too!

THANK YOU for all you do for us.

  3. Very nice! The green ones are still a match, they're slippers and they can be that way! Again, very nice.

  4. Right, Marg, self-striping yarn is made mechanically with repeating sections the same distances apart, so if you start in the same place on the yarn, you can get a decent match. I did that with the pink, but didn't bother with the green, as I was using up small balls of yarn.

  5. Diana, whenever you get the pattern done for this, I would be interested. When I go to my family reunion in about two weeks, we are joining the local church in a service project to make a variety of items for girls rescued from human trafficking. Slippers and scarves are two of the items requested. Easy would be good, because the easier it is, the faster I could learn, and the more I could make.

  6. Hello Diana, that's a wonderful pattern. I have just get an old passap duomatic and now want to learn to use it. If you have written instructions or a video to make those slippers - I can't wait to make some of these for my family....

  7. Not a great pattern for your DM80, Daniela. You have to pick up stitches from the knitting hanging below, which is difficult with a Passap.

It's great for the Japanese machines, though.

  8. Hi Diana
Is there a likely date when you are going to publish your slipper pattern? These slippers would be a fantastic fund raiser for our Church Funds and as gifts to the local Nursing Home. I would also be able to use up some of my large stash of wool. Yes we knitters like our wool and I have yet to meet one who has actually managed to use it all up.

  9. I'll publish it when I finish the slipper book. Long way to go.
